Recently, the situation of avian influenza has been severe. Some media reported that because the number of poultry culled far exceeded expectations, there is even no suitable land to fill dead poultry.

Bloomberg reported on the 5th local time that it is facing a "serious bird flu epidemic" in history. In order to prevent the spread of the virus or water pollution, properly dispose of dead poultry carcasses. Usually government departments will make plans in advance to deal with dead birds, but due to the ferocity of the bird flu epidemic this year, the number of culling birds far exceeded expectations. Many governments and farmers said it was difficult to find suitable land to fill a huge amount of dead birds. It is reported that some areas are disposing of dead poultry carcasses by burning.

A large number of laying hens were culled to soaring egg prices and shortage of supply. According to data released by a large sales company, since April, medium eggs in the Tokyo area have risen 65% from the same period last year, reaching records since 1993. According to relevant government regulations, eggs are given priority to ensuring family supply, and some large catering companies are facing the dilemma of "no eggs available. Data show that as of the 5th, at least 28 of the 100 large-scale listed catering companies have stopped supplying egg-containing dishes, an increase of 10 from the previous month. Two other companies are considering taking egg-containing dishes off the shelves, and more catering companies may adjust their menus to reduce egg-containing dishes.

Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Nomura Tetsuro said last month that the "egg shortage" situation will not be possible in the short term. Considering the breeding cycle of laying hens, it may take half a year or even a year for the supply of eggs to return to normal.
